With Gratitude for Your Support of Fukushima's Recovery

On March 11, 2011, Fukushima Prefecture—particularly Hamadori, its Pacific coastal region—suffered immense damage from the unprecedented combination of the massive earthquake and ensuing tsunami, as well as the nuclear power plant accident.

Fifteen years later, challenges remain, including decommissioning and reputational harm caused by misinformation and misconceptions. Even so, the recovery has continued to make steady progress, thanks to the many people in Japan and around the world who have stood by Fukushima.

Taito City has also made a major contribution, including by dispatching staff to municipalities affected by the disaster.

About the Organization for Fukushima Soso region Revitalization

The Organization for Fukushima Soso region Revitalization was established in 2015 as a joint public-private body bringing together the national government, Fukushima Prefecture, private companies and other partners. Its original mission was to help rebuild businesses and livelihoods in communities affected by the disaster. Since then, its work has expanded to include opening new markets for seafood, supporting community development, and encouraging visits and deeper, lasting ties to the region. Opportunities to see tangible progress in the recovery are also increasing. We will continue moving forward together with everyone who cares about the region, working to make the disaster-affected communities a ‘place of hope.’ Thank you for your continued support.
